　　配備自動變速器的車輛在等候經過信號或堵車時，一些駕駛員常將換擋桿堅持在D擋，同時踩下制動踏板，若時間很短，這樣做是允許的。但若停車時間長較好換入N擋，并拉緊駐車制動。由于換擋桿在D擋時，自動變速器汽車普通有微小的前移，若長時間踩住制動踏板，等于強行遏止這種前移，使得變速器油溫升高，油液容易蛻變，特別在空調系統工作時，發起機怠速較高的狀況下更為不利。
